Alligator Alley "Gator"
Gator, due to no fault of his own, found himself in a dire situation. A dealer pen all the way in Louisa, VA had him and his future was a grim one. Thanks to people who cared, we were able to raise enough funds and with help from SRF, a wonderful charity organization in the US, we bailed him out and into a safe foster.** Gator has since found a loving family to call his own! Have a happy life Gator!

Vindecor
This sweet mare, born March 2005, was saved from a kill pen in Bastrop, LA. This mother to 5 registered foals was not in a good position and was tagged to ship to slaughter. Thanks to your generous donations and support with a 50/50 raffle, we were able to pay forward her bail and keep her safe.

Thunder On Friday
Thunder on Friday was tagged for direct ship to a Canadian plant for slaughter. This sweet boy was located in Pennsylvania but we worked with volunteers and SRF to secure his safety. We were able to pay his bail and aftercare funding needed for quarantine and transport. Thunder was adopted in September 2023.

White Strype
This handsome faced boy is White Strype, he’s a 20 year old Standardbred Gelding who found himself at the ROTZ kill pen in Pennsylvania and destined for slaughter along with 42 other trotters and pacers. We could not let that happen and jumped into action to save this Canadian born boy. White Strype made his journey to Nova Scotia to be with us here at Bozzy’s Mission until he finds his forever person to give him the retirement he deserves. * Jack was Adopted

Chance
We don’t know a whole lot about this beautiful boy, we don’t know what he was called or how he spent his life. We only really know that he is between 18-20 years old and he found himself in a kill pen in Allegany, New York and was set to ship to a Mexico slaughterhouse. We had this sweet boy shipped to us in Cape Breton. He was our first horse to be offered sanctuary on our farm.

Braya
This sweet 8 year old mini mare was put through a local auction where we were able to win our bid to ensure she had a safe landing for her and her unborn foal.
Braya went into labour June 16th, 2024. The foal did not make it. We lost Braya 3 days later on Wednesday June 19 from complications related to labour. Our hearts are broken. Fly high our sweet girl.

Luna
A white mare. Sadly that’s the only information that was given when Luna was left at a local auction. We don’t know where she came from, what her previous name was, breed or age. We intercepted Luna on January 4th, 2023 making her our first rescue of the new year. Luna was thin, under-nourished, feet overgrown, covered in lice and exhibiting some breathing issues. Luna has since been adopted and is thriving in her new home.
